| The Location |
| Friar’s Crag, Keswick’s beautiful lakeshore path is
one of the best loved, most walked upon routes in England. Derwentwater
is famed as the setting for many of the novels of Beatrix Potter,
including Squirrel Nutkin. As a result many fans are inspired to
visit the lake. However, the winter rains wash the path surface away
each year and the many visitors also contribute to the erosion problem. |
The Project
|
| The National Trust are
helping to give the footpath a more permanent and substantial surface
which resists flooding and erosion. At the same time they are upgrading
the route to wheelchair standard for to improve access for all. |
