Talkin Head is a hill farm in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The old farm buildings have been converted into seven specially designed holiday cottages now called Long Byres. Each cottage is self-contained, warm, (centrally heated, double glazed) with lovely views; some looking across the Lake District hills.
The locality has much to entertain visitors. The farm itself is home to sheep, chickens and geese. Children are welcome to meet Mo the pig or the two alpacas. The golf course is only 1.5 miles away and Talkin Tarn is excellent for boating, coarse fishing and walking. Cycle hire is available locally, with many good routes across the fells on "green" roads. Situated next door to Geltsdale RSPB Reserve which is home to a small number of Black Grouse and other upland birds, you will find something for all the family at Long Byres. |
